Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Yoga In Our City (YIOC), combining their efforts to provide accessible mental health information to under-resourced communities throughout Connecticut. This collaboration brings together the missions of both organizations to build stronger, more compassionate communities by supporting mental health and wellness across our state.
We are excited to announce a partnership that combines MHC’s century-long expertise in providing mental health services with YIOC platform for wellness and community engagement. Together, we aim to make valuable mental health resources more accessible to individuals across Connecticut.
The partnership kicks off by distributing content from MHC’s Winter Wellness Toolkit, released on December 21st and a part of their ongoing Winter Wellness with MHC campaign. Additionally, the two organizations will co-host a series of recorded discussions and workshops throughout 2025 that will be available on the YIOC Virtual Studio and social media. The videos are designed to raise awareness about mental health and equip communities with practical tools for long-term wellness.
Yoga In Our City’s mission is rooted in social justice, believing in the power of yoga philosophy to inspire positive change. Their public yoga classes aim to unite communities and build compassion, making yoga and its healing benefits accessible to all. MHC shares a complementary mission, partnering with individuals, families, and communities to create environments that support long-term health and wellness.
“This partnership represents a transformative opportunity to expand mental health awareness and resources across Connecticut,” said Bethany Simmonds, Senior Director of Advancement at Mental Health Connecticut. “Our collaboration with Yoga In Our City will break down barriers to mental health education and ensure that individuals throughout the state can access the tools and support they need for holistic wellness.”
“At Yoga in Our City, we strive to nurture the mind-body connection in every participant. We believe that as we strengthen this inner connection, building meaningful relationships with others and our communities becomes second nature. Our partnership with Mental Health Connecticut enables us to extend this mission, providing vital support for our participants’ mental well-being. Together, we’re creating pathways to a more connected, balanced, and fulfilling life,” said Travi-Gaye Stewart, YIOC Instructor.
The mental health information and resources will address a range of mental health topics, from stress management and coping strategies to the importance of community support. By leveraging the strengths of both organizations, MHC and YIOC aim to create meaningful opportunities for individuals and communities to improve their mental and physical well-being.
